Welcome Message
Dear delegates,
I warmly welcome you all to Kano, the Center of Commerce for the 14th Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Nigeria (SOGHIN). Since the birth of SOGHIN in Port Harcourt in 2007 following the merging of the then West African Society of Gastroenterology (WASOG) and Association for the Study of Liver Disease in Nigeria (ASLIN), the Society have continued to grow in membership, activities and collaborations with sister societies and associations within and outside Nigeria.
You will recall that the last time Kano hosted this great society was in 2008. As we look forward to hosting you again in Kano in July 2022, we promise to make it a more memorable event for all of you.
This year’s event (SOGHIN Kano 2022) brings together Gastroenterologists, Hepatologists, Surgeons, Pathologists, Pediatricians, Radiologist, Nurses, Medical Laboratory Scientists and other Health Professional from within and outside the Country to the Commercial City of Kano.
The theme of this year’s conference “Burden and Challenges of Managing Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders” is quite relevant to the practice of gastroenterology in Nigeria and across the globe.
This is the 14th in the series of this Conference which has been a regular annual event holding between June and August each year except for 2020 event which was cancelled due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. It is indeed gladdening to witness remarkable reduction of COVID 19 Cases across the country with attendant review of COVID 19 Protocols allowing for Physical attendance of meetings that has been missed so much over the last 3 years.
Please make it a date with SOGHIN in Kano (KANO 2022) come July 18th-22nd 2022. Come and enjoy the unique hospitality and commerce of the most populous city in Northern Nigeria. We are excited to receiving and hosting all of you in Kano.
Prof. Musa Muhammad Borodo
